    Nova VPS for WordPress

    A VPS built for WordPress

WordPress runs PHP single-threaded: for every request, response time is decided by the clock speed of one core, not by how many cores you have. Nova VPS run on AMD Ryzen 9 9950X, a high-frequency desktop-class processor, with NVMe Gen4 RAID storage for MySQL queries. You keep full root access to install your own stack: Nginx or Apache, PHP-FPM, MariaDB, Redis.

    What actually matters

Why this hardware changes response time

Four technical points that separate a slow WordPress from a fast one.

    Clock speed beats core count

PHP handles one request on a single thread. A high-frequency processor like the Ryzen 9 9950X cuts page generation time, whereas adding cores only helps absorb more simultaneous visitors. That is why a properly sized VPS Standard often beats a many-core but low-clocked shared plan.

    NVMe Gen4 for the database

A single WordPress page triggers dozens of SQL queries, and WooCommerce many more. 100% NVMe Gen4 RAID storage absorbs those random accesses without becoming the bottleneck, unlike the SATA SSDs still common at entry level.

    Daily backup, included

A plugin update breaking the site is the most common WordPress failure. Every Nova VPS includes automated daily backup, 7-day rolling retention and 1-click restore, at no extra cost and with no third-party plugin to configure.

    Your stack, your rules

Root access lets you choose Nginx or Apache, your PHP version, OPcache, Redis for object caching, and your own update policy. Nothing is imposed or locked down, unlike managed WordPress hosting.

    Our recommendation

    Which configuration to choose

The 8 GB of RAM leave room for MariaDB, OPcache and Redis alongside PHP-FPM, which is usually the tipping point between a sluggish WordPress and a responsive one. If your WooCommerce store grows, moving up to VPS Performance happens at any time, with no data loss and no IP change.

    Getting started

Installing WordPress on your VPS, step by step

The shortest path from order to a live site.

    1

    Pick the distribution

Debian 12 or Ubuntu 24.04 remain the safe choices for a LEMP stack: well-stocked repositories, abundant documentation and long support cycles. Rocky Linux and AlmaLinux suit you if your habits come from the RHEL world.

    2

    Build the LEMP stack

Nginx at the front, PHP-FPM 8.3 or 8.4, MariaDB for the database. Enable OPcache from the start: on a plugin-heavy site it often halves generation time without touching a line of code.

    3

    Add Redis for object caching

WordPress queries the wp_options table on every load. A Redis object cache removes those repetitive SQL round trips; it is the highest-return optimisation on plugin-heavy sites and on WooCommerce.

    4

    Harden before going live

A UFW firewall limited to ports 80, 443 and SSH, key-only SSH authentication, fail2ban on WordPress login attempts. CorceLink DDoS protection covers volumetric attacks, not application-level brute force.

    5

    Encrypt with Let’s Encrypt

Certbot issues and renews the certificate for free. Check that automatic renewal is active: an expired certificate costs more in rankings than a slow day.

    6

    Schedule a real cron

Disable visit-triggered WP-Cron (DISABLE_WP_CRON) and replace it with a system task every five minutes. Scheduled posts and backups become reliable, and page loads no longer carry that cost.

    What this offer is not

The Nova VPS is an unmanaged server: WordPress is not preinstalled, there is no cPanel-style panel, and you remain responsible for both system and application updates. If you are looking for turnkey WordPress hosting, our web hosting offer is a better fit. The Managed Support Level 2 add-on (€39/mo) covers the operating system, security and updates, but not WordPress itself.
